In the midst of yet another copycat striking and bringing me down I just thought I'd lift the mood and get a bit slushy by highlighting how lucky I think I am to constantly be a part of such a special day. I promise you this is not sales speak or fake in any way, jut something I don't often take the time to talk about.
I have met some of the nicest couples I could have ever have hoped for over the last seven years and it seems the more I improve, the more grateful the couples get and the more complimentary they are and I thank you all for that.
Take this Saturday's wedding at The Fennes for example. The place looked gorgeous in thick snow and I was greeted by Nicola the front of house manager in such a warm way, more as a friend than a colleague. The photographers David and Sandra Islip soon arrived and we chatted like old friends once again... I knew it was going to be an easy day from this point of view.. but still had to meet the couple.. would they be friendly and happy to see me? Wedding day nerves and stress can do funny things to people but as soon as I walked into the bride's room I was greeted with the biggest smile as she said "Thank goodness you managed to get here, the wedding just couldn't have gone ahead without you!"
Louise and Jamie turned out to be up there with the nicest couples I've ever had the pleasure of filming. Louise absolutely full of smiles all day long, never stressed, never rude (which is fully excusable on your wedding morning!) and Jamie, although nervous from the start was such a friendly guy to be around he really made me feel comfortable and I hope I had the same effect on him.
The day progressed faultlessly, on time and perfectly managed (as is always the way at The Fennes) and after the ceremony Jamie turned from a very nervous groom to the most relaxed person you'll ever see who enjoyed every second of his day.
Louise's mum came up to me during the wedding breakfast and expressed her huge thanks for my efforts and explained about how Louise had been dreaming of her big day since she was a little girl (nothing new there then Ladies!), sticking wedding dress photos in scrapbooks and doing everything she can to build the excitement for the most special day of her life and how happy she was that I was able to capture it. Boy did this happiness show. I have never seen so many smiles!
Not afraid to brave the cold for some stunning snow photos the guys were up for everything and involved their son Harry in every part of the day. One thing that really struck a chord with me as a father was the amount of love these two had for their little boy and it's going to be a joy to show that in the wedding film.
Now.. enough mushy talk. I just wanted to thank you all for letting me be a part of such a special time for you and your families and thank you for being so nice.
I must get back to Megan who has quietly sat on the sofa watching Peppa Pig as I type this. I love her, but I'm going to put on Postman Pat.
