Sam + Ben | Halfway Across

a Claydon House Wedding Film

This trailer is a very special one. My wife's cousin Liz married Mark in May 2013 and her sister Sam was her only bridesmaid. In September, the roles were reversed as Sam and Ben were married at the spectacular Claydon House, a beautiful National Trust property in Buckinghamshire.

After filming Sam's morning prep at her parents house in Towcester, I jumped in photographer Guy Hearn's unnecessarily fast sports car, grabbed a wine gum and made my way to Claydon House. Sam and Ben had told me about the spectacular venue in the months preceding the wedding but nothing they could have said would have prepared me for just how beautiful it was.

The weather was perfect and despite the challenge of trying not to film my daughter Megan all day (she looked so cute.. that's her playing with the wooden blocks on the ground) the day flew by and I successfully managed to make a film I am proud of and have a good time!

One thing that stood out at me when editing Ben's speech was a strong sense of good old fashioned romance. No matter how much love is conveyed in a grooms speech, they don't always conjure up such a romantic vision as that of Sam & Ben on their first date in London and this was something that was made even stronger when I heard the ceremony reading On Waterloo Bridge by Wendy Cope.

"On Waterloo Bridge with the wind in my hair, I am tempted to skip. You're a fool. I don't care.

the head does its best but the heart is the boss, I admit it before I am halfway across”

Enjoy!
