You may not know this but I played in bands for a large portion of my teenage and young adult life. When Nicola emailed me after she'd secured her wedding film to ask me for some advice on a band for her wedding I had no hesitations in recommending Jupiter Ray. As well as being a top function band, the guitarist Chris used to front the last band I played in. When the boys started doing their thing in the evening it took me back to the glory days and I was very tempted to jump on stage and show everyone just how it's done. As it happens, instead I ended up moving Chris' car for him as they played because he'd blocked the disabled parking space. Still, pretty rock and roll I'm sure you'll agree.
I digress.
Nicola and Jonny's wedding took place on a beautifully bright September day at St Saviour's Church, followed by Hylands House. I've actually only filmed at Hylands House a handful of times but I every time I visit I seem to end up in another beautiful photography location that somehow went unnoticed on the previous visit. I worked once again alongside The Edge Photography (Nicola and Jonny managed to pin him down on a day he wasn't swanning off around the country winning awards..) and with the help of our 2nd shooters Grant and Karen, a good day was had by all.
Nicola and Jonny's story is a really touching one and I urge you to stick with this clip. It's a little longer than usual at almost six minutes, but hopefully the storytelling, cinematography and above all heartfelt voiceover from Jonny and his dad will keep you hooked.
I give you, the setup.
